REAL STORIES OF THE PARANORMAL

August 28th, 2008

When it comes to true stories of the paranormal, many people don’t realize that the U.S. government has been researching the paranormal for several decades.

Dr. Christopher C. Green, known to friends and colleagues as “Kit”, currently serves as the Assistant Dean of Clinical Research, China for the Wayne State School of Medicine in Detroit Michigan. He served in the CIA from 1969 through 1985. In the early 1970s, Dr. Green’s work included involvement in the start of a 20-year government research project into ESP and psychic ability.

Working for the CIA weird desk

LTK: Dr. Green, how did you progress through the ranks of the CIA, and what was your primary responsibility?

CG: I was an “open” employee and able to generally discuss this question for my entire career. My position was as an analyst in the Life Sciences Division, later to become a Science and Technology Division, in the part of the Agency that examined intelligence data that may affect national security . Most of the data was unclassified. What analysts “did” was called “All Source” intelligence. This meant writing judgments in as low a classification as possible to reach the widest audience in the Executive Branch. My primary responsibility was in Physiology and Medicine, Life Support Systems for foreign space and undersea platforms, and a wide range of biological and chemical threat analysis. My specialty was Forensic Medicine; this means trying to figure out diagnoses from very little and often highly incomplete data.

LTK: The term “weird desk” is considered among paranormal groups as the collection of files within the CIAparanormal. Were you really the “keeper of the weird” for the CIA, and if so, how much time did you invest in it? pertaining to anything

CG: Yes. What has been publicly stated about the wide range of weird claims and even some of the actual “data”, ranging from terrible to fairly good, is basically correct. What is not clear, is that over my career, this activity ranged from a few documents a month to spurts of activity that sometimes occupied a few days a month at the height of activities in the late ‘70s. Overall, I never spent more than 10% of my time on the subjects across any given period of weeks or a month. However, it has resulted in 90% of what is thought to be known about me!

LTK: In hindsight, what percentage of the materials dealing with the paranormal that crossed the “weird desk” would you say you found interesting and why?

CG: 10 to 20 % was material that was interesting. This was not because it had “face validity”, but because the sources or data were good, and because in four instances (of a hundred I heard about) I was able to “verify” that there was no fraud or hoax. This was because either I personally observed the data gathering and had it tested with a double-blind method, or personally experienced the results.

The CIA Remote Viewing (Psychic) Research

LTK: The “stargate files” covering the government’s remote viewing research were declassified in 1995. How much were you involved in that research?

CG: I was very involved from about 1976 until 1978, and I was one of six or eight analysts who were involved and generally familiar until 1983. After 1985, I received only one summary briefing as a courtesy, and lost interest because the results of what I was told happened since the early ‘80s were unimpressive to me. The research I was involved in personally, while important to me in establishing that sometimes the phenomena was accurate, and dramatically so at a personal level, was very small in relationship to the size of what I have read the program became from the early ‘80s to the early ‘90s. However, I worked with three subjects who convinced me of the reality of paranormal phenomenon, while also convincing me that there was little of value for the Intelligence Community. The phenomenon was highly unpredictable and uncontrolled, and impossible to verify in a fast enough time period to be robust or useful.

LTK: Would you say that what you did see convinced you that the phenomenon of “Remote Viewing”, a form of ESP, is real?

CG: There were four “experiments” in which I participated where I was 100% sure and certain no tomfoolery or hoax was afoot. The results were directly observed, or in one case highly controlled by myself and other analysts. However, they suffer from the fact that single observers are not good referents. Much like in the journalism profession, two or more sources are required. In three of the experiments, I was personally involved so I am not a credible reporter in those incidents. That is, I could be said to suffer from “Observer Bias” which is a fair criticism. In one case, the experiment occurred with my home as the site of a long-distance Remote Viewing (RV). In another case, I was the “target” and varied my location at the last minute and was alone, to be sure no one followed me. I did not know the results until a double-blind opening of the data occurred. In the final case, there was a medical emergency with the subject, and the conditions and circumstances were such that it was clear the results could not have been faked or planned.

LTK: Could you describe the strangest experience you had that had the greatest impact on your personal beliefs regarding paranormal phenomenon?

CG: During a RV experiment, I was on the telephone in my den at home on a Saturday afternoon. I alone prepared some numerical targets, and no one else was involved. The entire purpose of the “experiment” was to convince myself that RV was possible. I placed the targets in a sealed envelope and placed them on a music stand. The RV subject not only correctly determined the numbers, in correct sequence, but correctly identified that I had placed them upside down, something I did not realize. The real “impact” of the session happened next.

The RV person at one point screamed into the phone (he was 3,000 miles away) “Kit, something bad has happened! Oh my god! I just got an image of the strangest white dog I have ever seen with a square head short legs and blood running down its throat…and I felt slivers of glass go through my body. Everything is happening on a sea of green. Are you o.k.?” I was, and for the next minute had no clue of what happened.

The RV subject persisted: “Kit something happened. I am sorry. Are you o.k.?” I then went to check on my wife and kids downstairs. I found them upset, and cleaning a huge mess of broken glass from the solid green carpet that had been just laid that morning in our empty family Room. My white Bulldog Charles had overturned and shattered a glass lamp when running into the room unexpectedly. Charles was not only white, he had a very square head. My kids said he had tripped while running around the room on the bright fire-red three-inch wide macramé collar my mother had made for him. It was around his neck and dangling under his chin, down his throat and trailing between his front legs.

I knew that my home was inviolate; no one in the woods outside the back door to the rec room was monitoring my family in real-time. The RV subject did not know I even had a white Bulldog, and just like me, didn’t know what had happened in his RV image.

Views Regarding the Paranormal Today

LTK: Have your views regarding phenomenon such as UFOs, ghosts, or ESP changed at all from the time you started with the CIA to the day you left in 1985. If so, why?

CG: Yes. I now believe the phenomenon is much less common than I used to think, and that people cannot be trained in any useful fashion. I believe that people with true psychic abilities are few and far between. The acquisition of information is spontaneous and uncontrolled. The characteristics of “successful” Remote Viewers (such as in my personal four cases) are very, very uncommon. I have also sadly come to believe that more delusion and fraud exists than I even thought was possible back then.

LTK: Thank you, Kit, for taking the time to share your experiences, knowledge, and insight regarding paranormal phenomena.

CG: Thank you, and I will be happy if a dialogue ensues

DEMONOLOGY FROM A ROMAN CATHOLIC PERSPECTIVE

August 22nd, 2008

There is a trend in popular culture, and in the paranormal investigation field, of glamorizing demons, “demonologists” and exorcisms. There are popular movies, television series, books, and websites all devoted to demons in some form. Demonology has become the biggest draw at paranormal conferences and meetings. This is of great concern to those who actually work in this field. The interest is probably based on the perception that demons are the most “hardcore” or “serious” of the paranormal phenomenon, and therefore it is cool to call oneself a “demonologist.” Because of this trend, this material is being offered to educate and hopefully correct some of the misguided and dangerous assumptions of the public.

When people use the word ‘demonology’ they usually mean investigating cases where demons may be present or affecting people, or they mean interacting with demons in some other way, such as in an exorcism. Some people mean simply studying demons as an academic subject without any intended interaction. The term ‘religious demonology’ implies approaching the subject from a religious framework, usually Christian or Catholic, and implies the person is working for good and is actively working against evil.

This is not a guide on how to be a demonologist

No functional information is provided here about: what a demon exactly is, how they came into being, their names, and their history, how to fight them or how to do or assist at exorcisms. This is not a “how-to” for being a demonologist. This is a broad overview and a set of warnings.

The reality of demons

Demons are real. They are not just people’s imagination or getting worked up and being scared of the dark. Demons are a very dangerous reality that can destroy your life. You simply will not understand this unless you encounter a demon, whether in a person or as a disembodied entity. Once you do encounter one, your worldview will be forced to accommodate the presence of evil as an objective reality. This will make you feel mentally unstable for at least a short time. And for the rest of your life you will be looking over your shoulder, because you will know that you are probably being watched because you know the truth of their existence. You will never be able to go back to thinking of demons as an abstract idea or thrilling possibility: they will forever be a part of your life and may attack you openly and personally because of your choice to step into the spiritual arena with them.

The framework that demons exist in

You need to be grounded in a Christian, preferably Catholic, viewpoint in order to understand demons. The reason for this is very practical: demons behave in a way that shows us they are defined and bound by the Catholic religious system:

- They react with fear and anger to symbols or words related to Jesus, scripture from the Bible, Catholic prayers, and holy objects. Trying to influence a demon’s behavior on your own (i.e., asking it to stop or telling it you command it to stop) will only get you mocked and physically hurt, or worse.

- They know when an object has been blessed by a Catholic priest, which causes them to react negatively to it.

- They know when blessed objects are near them, even when not in view.

- If you show a demon a Crucifix and a symbol from a non-Christian religion, it will not be able to look at the Crucifix and will get angry. It generally will not care about the other symbols.

- They can read your mind and will know all of your unconfessed sins. This includes things you have never told anyone in your life and especially which the person the demon is in could never know. Sins confessed in the Catholic sacrament of confession are not knowable by demons.

- Persons possessed by demons will almost never go into a Catholic Church voluntarily.

- When they attack, they are only stopped and driven away by Christian prayers, holy water, and the name of Jesus.

- The Catholic Church created the Roman Ritual of Exorcism that is used in cases where a person has been possessed by demons, or the Devil.

Some tricks demons use

The perspective of the religious demonologists sometime seems conservative or simplistic. This is true to an extent, but the reader must understand that this comes from experience. Here are some of the tricks of the enemy and the conservative stances that result from them.

1. Appearing to be a helpful or needy spirit/ghost/phenomenon/guide.

The enemy almost never appears in their true form, they lie and deceive constantly. We know from experience that many cases of demonic oppression and possession start with a “harmless” or “helpful” spirit haunting or interaction. They sometimes start with communications with a dearly departed relative or helpful spirit guide, or a pitiful soul that needs your help. If the demons showed up and looked horrible and menacing you would run the other way and right into a Church. They suck you in slowly by offering knowledge, playing on your pity, giving comfort or power. Only when they have a sufficient hold will their true intent (to take you away from God and destroy you) become clear.

This leads demonologists to distrusting “harmless” haunting and spirit communication with “positive” entities.

2. Convincing you that they will give you life/health/power/money/fame/sex/etc.

The enemy often takes advantage of weakness or misfortune: they come when you are sick, bankrupt, depressed, or swollen with pride. They offer to fix your problems or elevate you above others. The trick comes later: when you are at your peak they tear it all down so that you suffer the most intensely. The enemy can lift you up, but only so that your fall is harder.

This leads demonologists, or those that understand this, to eschew fame, undue attention or power.

3. Tricking you into letting a “spirit” enter your body.

The enemy has many tricks for convincing you to let a spirit into your body. Using your body as a tool to “free” or “remove” a spirit or demon from a haunted location is a bad idea. There is always an act of free will involved in letting a demon enter your body; you just might be unaware that it is a demon. Your permission might be given in response to a deception, but the door is opened nonetheless. You should never assume that you can get something out once you let it in. If someone advises you to channel spirits, use your body to transport a spirit, or use your body to remove a spirit from a location you need to say no. We have seen and read many cases of possession that started in these ways.

This leads demonologists to be stubbornly against any form of admission of anything into the body.

What is required to engage in Religious Demonology?

There are a number of requirements for religious demonology, including some basic factors that must be present in the person and in their life. Without all of these you are putting yourself, your loved ones and your co-investigators in grave danger.

1. First and foremost, the religious demonologist must be called to the work by God, not by their own choice. If you want to be a demonologist, that is a problem. No rational person says they want to interact with pure evil and put their sanity, their physical life, and their soul at risk when they don’t have to. People in the work are called into the work and guided to the people and situations that train them. God is in charge from the beginning to the end. If you are meddling because you want to be cool, you want to be thrilled, or you are going to defeat evil, you will either be corrupted by evil, driven insane, or dead soon enough.

2. Everyone functioning along with a demonologist must also be called to do so. There can be no bystanders or curious onlookers; they are open to being attacked and their presence is a major weakness that will be used against those present.

3. You must have special supernatural protection and intervention from God in order to survive, remain sane, and be effective in religious demonology. It is not the human person or the priest who drives a demon from a person’s home or body. It is not the human will that makes a demon stop throwing objects around the room or causing horrible thoughts and pains in the people there. There is no personal power or authority in humans: all intervention, protection, and authority come from God on a moment-by-moment basis. You might be free from sin and close to God one moment and be covered in sin and vulnerable the next. If you meddle with demonic forces without the special protection that comes from a calling from God, and without living in a way pleasing to God, you will know it from the outcomes of your interactions with the demonic. If you see yourself depressed, isolated, suicidal, homicidal, obsessed with demons, thinking you are powerful or in control of demons, or working for evil, there is a problem.

4. You must be under legitimate Church guidance and authority. Along with a legitimate calling from God naturally come the contacts, friends, and guidance from people with decades of experience in the work. It should come as no surprise that you cannot learn how to function as a religious demonologist from any book or website. Doing so and thinking you have any real knowledge or understanding is folly.

5. You must understand what it means to give your life to God and surrender your physical life to the will of God. Without giving up your life to God’s will, not your will, you will feel fear and intimidation in situations where you might die. This cannot happen as death is a real possibility in this work and that reality cannot be used against you to intimidate you or control you. If you are afraid to die in God’s service, the demons will know and you will be crushed by your fear.

6. You should be of a mature age. It is unhealthy for a developing mind and soul to interact with the demonic realm. Once you cross the line into knowing the reality of demons you will go through a psychological and spiritual crisis where you must come to terms with your new reality. This can be very challenging for any adult; the young forming mind is generally not equipped to handle this successfully. Better to live a normal happy life when young and leave this topic for later in life.

7. The work must be done as an act of charity. You cannot mix any selfish motives into the work: fame, bragging rights, monetary compensation, social power, or other benefits. This must be work for good, for God, not for you in any sense. To do this for selfish reasons puts you in an arena with a supernatural force way beyond your comprehension with little or no protection.

The sincere hope in sharing this information with the public is to increase safety and educate people on unsafe practices and some of the deceptions of the enemy.

Adam Blai , M.S., is a practicing Roman Catholic. His professional experience has been in outpatient, forensic, and educational settings. He has taught at Penn State University as well as Gettysburg College. He functions as a demonologist assisting at exorcisms, treating family members of the possessed, as well as the possessed themselves. He also determines if demonic activity is present at locations and confronts the demonic in both human and disembodied form when necessary.

HAUNTED HOAX

August 19th, 2008

HAUNTED HOAX is the first paranormal show of its kind, exposing the fakes, which claim to be real and offering possible explanations to more creditable evidence.

Host, author Patrick H.T. Doyle, explores historic and haunted sites while examining video and photographic evidence posted for the public — from opening doors and picture frames that move to ghostly figures captured on film. Patrick stages reenactments and demonstrates how a large percentage of evidence can be fabricated with just a simple digital camera and everyday items.

This is a show for paranormal researchers and anyone who has ever questioned the authenticity of a video or photo labeled as “Haunted” and presented as truth. It’s a “Guide to Evaluating Evidence” that hopes to decontaminate the evidence pool and move the field of paranormal research forward. Each episode will educate and entertain while you learn the tricks some could use to create a HAUNTED HOAX.

THE POSSESSION ON ANNELIESE MICHEL - DOCUMENTARY

August 17th, 2008

Anneliese Michel (September 21, 1952 – July 1, 1976) was a German Catholic woman who was said to be possessed by demons and subsequently underwent an exorcism. Two motion pictures, The Exorcism of Emily Rose and Requiem are loosely based on Anneliese’s story.

Anneliese experienced what is recognized by medical professionals as severe psychiatric disturbances from the age of 16 to her death, at age 23, as a direct or indirect result of an exorcism ritual. Both priests who performed the exorcism and Anneliese’s parents were convicted of manslaughter. The Roman Catholic Church, which had authorized the exorcism, reversed its position and later declared Anneliese Michel a case of mental illness. Many people believe she was genuinely possessed by demons, and today her grave site is a destination for pilgrims to this day.

Was this a case of possession that defies the answers given by medicine and science or nothing more than an act of negligence ? Whatever your beliefs, this is one of the most interesting stories of possession ever recorded..

THE REAL POSSESSION OF ANNELIESE MICHEL

August 17th, 2008

From her birth on the 21st of September, 1952, in a small village in Bavaria, Anneliese Michel enjoyed the life of a normal, religiously nurtured young girl. Raised in Klingenberg am Main, Germany, her father operated a sawmill and the family was devout Catholic’s. Anneliese had a seemingly normal childhood and as she grew older Anneliese became deeply religious.

Without warning at the age of 17, her life changed on a day in 1968 when she began shaking and found she was unable to control her body. She could not call out for her parents, Josef and Anna, or any of her 3 sisters, she described the symptoms as paralysis, a enormous weight on her chest, her body becoming rigid and she wouldn’t be able to speak. A neurologist at the Psychiatric Clinic Wurzburg diagnosed her with “Grand Mal” epilepsy. Because of the strength of the epileptic fits, and the severity of the depression that followed, Anneliese was admitted for treatment at the hospital . Throughout her stay at the hospital During her stay at the hospital, she started seeing demonic faces, especially during her daily prayers and voices telling her that she was damned. Doctors there began to medicate her with some type of anticonvulsant. Anneliese’s frustrations grew when the medications didn’t provide any help, she continued to see the faces and became more depressed.

It was the spring of 1970, and while the young people of the world were enjoying the liberal freedoms of the time, Anneliese was battling with the belief that she was possessed. It seemed there was no other explanation for the appearance of devilish visions during her prayers. Voices also began following her, saying Anneliese will “stew in hell”. She mentioned the “demons” to the doctors only once, explaining that they have started to give her orders. The doctors seem unable to help, and Anneliese lost hope that medicine was going to be able to cure her.

Once released, Anneliese returned to high school, she graduated and then moved to the city to attend the University of Wurzburg on a scholarship in 1973 and majored in elementary education. Convinced that medication wasn’t going to help her condition, she grew to believe that it was a spiritual infliction. She requested that the church perform an exorcism, but they refused to do so and the church suggested that she should devote herself to a more religious life.

After five years into her horrible ordeal, her parents started seeing numerous priests and requesting an exorcism and met only with suggestions that treatment and medication be continued.

The church has certain requirements that have to be met before approving of an exorcism, It was explained that the process by which the Church proves a possession (Infestatio) is strictly defined, and until all the criterium is met, a Bishop can not approve an exorcism. The requirements, to name a few, include an aversion to religious objects, speaking in a language the person has never learned, and supernatural powers.

In 1974, after supervising Anneliese for some time, Pastor Ernst Alt requested a permit to perform the exorcism from the Bishop of Wurzburg. The request was rejected, and a recommendation soon followed saying that Anneliese should live even more of a religious lifestyle in order to find peace. The attacks did not diminish, and her behavior become more irratic. At her parents house in Klingenberg, she insulted, beat, and began biting the other members of her family. She refused to eat because the demons would not allow it. She could be heard screaming throughout the house for hours while breaking crucifixes, destroying paintings of Jesus, and pulling apart rosaries. Anneliese began committing acts of self-mutilation at this time, and the act of tearing off her clothes and urinating on the floor became commonplace.

After making an exact verification of the possession in September 1975, the Bishop of Wurzburg, Josef Stangl, assigned Father Arnold Renz and Pastor Ernst Alt with the order to perform “The Great Exorcism” on Anneliese Michel. The basis for this ritual was the “Rituale Romanum”, which was still, at the time, a valid Cannon Law from the 17th century. It was determined that Anneliese must be saved from the possession by several demons, including Lucifer, Judas Iscariot, Nero, Cain, Hitler, and Fleischmann, a disgraced Frankish Priest from the 16th century, and some other damned souls which had manifested through her. From September ‘75 until July ‘76, one or two exorcism sessions were held each week. Anneliese’s attacks were sometimes so strong that she would have to be held down by 3 men, or even chained up. During this time, Anneliese found her life somewhat return to normal as she could again go to school, take final examinations at the Pedagogic Academy in Wurzburg, and go to church.

The attacks, however, did not stop. In fact, she would more often find herself paralyzed and falling unconscious than before. The exorcism continued over many months, always with the same prayers and incantations. Sometimes family members and visitors, like one married couple that claims to have “discovered” Anneliese, would be present during the rituals. For several weeks, Anneliese denied all food. Her knees ruptured due to the 600 genuflections she performed obsessively during the daily exorcism. Over 40 audio tapes record the process, in order to preserve the details.

The last day of the Exorcism Rite was on June 30th, 1976, and Anneliese was suffering at this point from Pneumonia. She was also totally emaciated, and running a high fever. Exhausted and unable to physically perform the genuflections herself, her parents stood in and helped carry her through the motions. “Beg for Absolution” is the last statement Anneliese made to the exorcists. To her mother, she said, “Mother, I’m afraid.” Anna Michel recorded the death of her daughter on the following day, July 1st, 1976, and at noon, Pastor Ernst Alt informed the authorities in Aschaffenburg. The senior prosecutor began investigating immediately.

A short time before these final events unfolded, William Friedkin’s “The Exorcist” (1974) came to the cinemas in Germany, bringing with it a wave of paranormal hysteria that flooded the nation. Psychiatrists all over Europe reported an increase of obsessive ideas among their patients. Prosecutors took more than 2 years to to take Annaliese’s case to court, using that time to sort through the bizarre facts. Anneliese’s parents and the two exorcists were accused of negligent homocide. The “Klingenberg Case” would be decided upon two questions: What caused the death of Anneliese Michel, and who was responsible?

According the forensic evidence, “Anneliese starved to death”. Specialists claimed that if the accused would have begun with forced feeding one week before her death, Anneliese’s life would have been saved. One sister told the court that Anneliese did not want to go to a mental home where she would be sedated and forced to eat. The exorcists tried to prove the presence of the demons, playing taped recordings of strange dialogues like that of two demons arguing about which one of them would have to leave Anneliese’s body first. One of the demons called himself Hitler, and spoke with a Frankish accent (Hitler was born in Austria). Not one of those present during the exorcism ever had a doubt about the authenticity of the presence of these demons.

The psychiatrists, whom had been ordered to testify by the court, spoke about the “Doctrinaire Induction”. They said that the priests had provided Anneliese with the contents of her psychotic behavior. Consequentially, they claimed, she later accepted her behavior as a form of demonic possession. They also offered that Anneliese’s unsettled sexual development, along with her diagnosed Temporal Lobe Epilepsy, had influenced the psychosis.

The verdict was considered by many as not as harsh as they expected. Anneliese’s parents, as well as the exorcists, were found guilty of manslaughter resulting from negligence and omitting first aid. They were sentenced to 6 months in jail and probation. The verdict included the opinion of the court that the accused should have helped by taking care of the medical treatment that the girl needed, but instead, their use of naive practices aggrivated Anneliese’s already poor constitution.

A commission of the German Bishop-Conference later declared that Anneliese Michel was not possessed, however, this did not keep believers from supporting her struggles, and it was because so many believed in her that Anneliese’s body did not find peace with death. Her corpse was exhumed eleven and a half years after her burial, only to confirm that it had decayed as would have been expected under normal circumstances. Today, her grave remains a place of pilgrimage for rosary-praying and for those who believe that Anneliese Michel bravely fought the devil.

In 1999, Cardinal Medina Estevez presented journalists in Vatican-City the new version of the “Rituale Romanum” that has been used by the Catholic Church since 1614. The updates came after more than 10 years of editing and is called “De exorcismis et supplicationibus quibusdam” otherwise known as “The exorcism for the upcoming millennium”. The Pope approbated the new Exorcism Rite, which is now allowed for worldwide use. This new form of exorcism came after the German Bishop-Conference demanded to ultimately abolish the “Rituale Romun”. It also came more than 20 years after Anneliese Michel had died.

PSYCHIATRIST’S ABILITIES TO BE TESTES BY JAMES RANDI

August 14th, 2008

DALLAS, TX, 2008 During a summer of superhero blockbusters, Dallas psychiatrist Colin A. Ross, M.D.  www.rossinst.com, is perfecting a superpower of his own. Dr. Ross’ application to the $1 Million Dollar Paranormal Challenge has been received by the James Randi Educational Foundation www.randi.org.

Dr. Ross can make a tone sound out of a speaker using nothing but an energy beam he sends out through his eyes.
The $1 million prize serves as a challenge to anyone who can show, under proper observing conditions, evidence of any paranormal, supernatural, or occult power or event. The James Randi Educational Foundation states in its Challenge rules that he is only interested in a demonstration of the claim. He does not want theories about how the paranormal claim works. Therefore, Dr. Ross is not required to explain how his demonstration of the human eyebeam works — only that it does work.

Preliminary tests of the claim will hopefully take place in the near future, once the test protocol is agreed upon. To date, no one has passed the preliminary tests on the way to the $1 million prize.
For more than 300 years, Western science has stated that no energy of any kind is emitted from the eyes. When you feel someone staring at you, Western science dismisses this as coincidence or some other form of misunderstanding.

Dr. Ross, founder of the Colin A. Ross Institute, is the author of over 135 scientific papers and 18 books, many of them dealing with psychological trauma and multiple personality disorder. He has spoken to mental health professionals throughout North America, as well as in Europe, China, Australia and New Zealand, including several conference presentations on energy fields. In a forthcoming book entitled Human Energy Fields, Dr. Ross explains a new science and medicine of human energy fields in detail.
“Once this energy is identified and captured, as I have done, then it can be studied and used for many applications in medicine and other fields,” said Dr. Ross.

Dr. Ross plans to use the $1 Million to develop scanning equipment for medical use and to carry out research on therapeutic uses of human energy fields.

UFO GROUP ‘SERIOUS’ OVER NEW SIGHTINGS

August 14th, 2008

BARELY a week has passed this summer without one national newspaper or another carrying a story about UFO sightings across Britain.

And now UFOs are claimed to have been spotted over Royston, too.

The Crow was contacted by paranormal investigation group Scope Paranormal, which said that four employees on the York Way industrial estate had spotted an unusual object in the sky at 1am on July 25.

The witnesses said that they saw a “bat-winged” shape with an orange circle of light in the middle hovering silently over the industrial estate for about 20 seconds. It then disappeared at speed.

And when Scope Paranormal decided to visit the industrial estate to investigate further, we went to meet them.

Sharon Chesterman, one of the group’s investigators, said that most of this summer’s sightings can be dismissed as Chinese lanterns, which are often lit and released into the night sky at parties and barbecues.

But she does NOT believe that Chinese lanterns are responsible for the sightings in Royston.

“We are taking this sighting seriously because the shape of the bat wings is very rare and there was also more than one witness,” she said.

“Out of hundreds of sightings nationally this summer, we believe this is the first bat-winged object.”

According to information released by the Ministry of Defence, the last reported UFO sighting over Royston was on September 2, 2001.

The report states that a witness saw a rectangular-triangle shaped object with a white pulsating light moving north-east.

Scope Paranormal was founded in November 2007 and offers a free, confidential investigation service for all things paranormal, including UFO sightings.

Trevor Shreeve, one of the co-founders of the group, said: “We use scientific techniques to try and prove or disprove whether something is paranormal or a natural or man-made occurrence.”

WOMAN RUNS SWORD INTO FOOT DURING WICCAN RITUAL

August 14th, 2008

LEBANON, Ind. (AP) — A woman accidentally stabbed herself in the foot with a 3-foot-long sword while performing a Wiccan good luck ritual at a central Indiana cemetery.

Katherine Gunther, 36, of Lebanon, pierced her left foot with the sword while performing the rite at Oak Hill Cemetery, police said.

Gunther said she was performing the ceremony to give thanks for a recent run of good luck. The ceremony involves the use of candles, incense and driving swords into the ground during the full moon.

Gunther said was aiming to put the sword in the ground, but hit her foot instead.

“It wasn’t the first time I performed the ritual, but it was the first time I put a sword through my foot,” she said.

Gunther immediately pulled the sword out of her foot, and her companions took her to Witham Memorial Hospital, where she was kept a couple days for treatment.

No charges were filed, police said. The Wiccans were warned that being in the cemetery in the city about 20 miles northwest of Indianapolis after posted visiting hours constitutes trespassing.

Wicca is a nature-based religion based on respect for the earth, nature and the cycle of the seasons.

BIGFOOT BODY FOUND

August 14th, 2008

TWO US professional Bigfoot hunters claim to have found a body of the legendary creature and will present evidence of the astounding discovery to the world’s press and scientists tomorrow.

Matthew Whitton and Rick Dyer, who run Bigfoot expeditions, say they found a dead Bigfoot in the woods of north Georgia, in the southeast of the US, about two weeks ago and have put the carcass in a freezer.

They along with “the real Bigfoot Hunter” Tom Biscardi, who has endorsed the find, will front a press conference in California, where they say DNA and photo proof will be presented.

Mr Whitton, a Georgia police officer on leave to recover from a shooting, and Mr Dyer, a former prison officer, have posted photos of their “find” on their searchingforbigfoot website.

They describe the creature as being a 2.3m tall “part human and part ape” male and weighing over 230kg with reddish hair and blackish-grey eyes.

The infamous feet are described as being flat and 41cm long with five toes.

The hands also have five fingers and and the teeth are more “human-like than ape like”.

The hunters claim several Bigfoots were spotted walking upright in the area the body was found but won’t reveal the location “to protect the creatures”.

Mr Whitton, Mr Dyer and Mr Biscardi say they will soon mount a secret expedition to capture a live Bigfoot.

Commenting on the discovery Scientific American said the apparent reluctance of the Bigfoot hunters to actually display or hand over the body would make those sceptical roll their eyes.

Although many would regard the Bigfoot as mythical, enthusiasts were given more reason to believe in October last year when hunter Rick Jacobs claimed to have taken photos of a Bigfoot in Pennsylvania.

The Bigfoot stir coincides with a supposed Texas sighting and filming of another legendary US monster, the chupacabra, which is a dog-like animal with a long snout that according to folklore attacks livestock, especially goats, and drinks their blood.

It seems to be a monster summer in the US with an unidentifed creature creating an internet sensation after it washed up near New York last month.

Bigfoot’s erstwhile cousin, the yeti or Abominable Snowman, also came under renewed scrutiny last month with a scientist sending some alleged hair from the creature to a lab for DNA testing.
