A WATCHFUL EYE

My mother passed away in 1987. She always told her sister, my aunt, that she was afraid to leave me, her youngest, and only single child, because she said someone needed to watch over me. My aunt promised her that she'd watch out over me. When my oldest son was born in 1990, my aunt agreed to watch him for me when I went back to work. Of course like most new moms, I was in tears to leave my newborn for the first time, and my aunt assured me things would be just fine. According to my aunt, Joey (my son) was upstairs crying. She heard him fussing upon waking, and just as she was getting up to go check on him she heard footsteps creaking upstairs as if walking towards the room (she was the only one at home)...she walked to the foot of the stairs and looked up the steps, and swears that for a few seconds, she saw my mother floating over my sons bassinet looking down at him. She said he immediately stopped crying and just went back to sleep. When I asked her if she was frightened, she smiled and said "no, of course not, she's always been here, and now she's just has a reason to make herself known" (her and my mom shared that house, and my mother died there after a long bout of cancer.

ARUNDEL - THE SPOOKIEST PLACE IN THE WORLD

Well I have been to many spooky places in my lifetime, from dark sewers to underground smugglers caves. When I visited Arundel in Sussex, in the UK I could tell there was something different. It was very dark when I arrived so I was feeling quite sleepy and just wanted to get my head down.

There has been many ghostly experiences in the little village of Arundel, all originating from the terrifying story that took place over 100 years ago. A girl and boy that were in love, the girl felt the love so strong but one day her partner decided that he no longer had the same feelings for the young women. She was devastated she didn't know how she was going to go on, all her family and friends said that you will get over this in time, she knew she couldn't, the tension just got too much that one night this young lady strolled down to the Arundel castle and climbed the tower and threw herself off. Sometimes fellow villagers say that if you go to the tower at around 10pm you can see her standing at the top looking for her love.

So as I do not believe in ghost and ghoul stories I planned an hour excursion in the closed tower on my own at 10pm. I have to say I was just feeling abit nervous as everywhere I went in the village people were saying to me "are you crazy?" please do not go up there alone. It was my decision I had to see what all the fuss was about, never mind that Arundel is considered one of the most haunted places in the world.

Well it came to around 9pm, I walked up the big hill to the castle, when I got there I was greeted by one of the 24 hour guards. I made my way in looking around the castle was a great experience it had an ore of untouched tradition about it. After strolling around I started making my way to the tower where the incident had occurred all so many years ago. While walking up the tower steps I could hear a sort of whisper he-hel-help, was it just my brain playing tricks with me? I got to the top with my beloved camera recording everything, I waited getting more and more anxious for the clock to strike 10, it then did I waited and waited and nothing happened, I put my camera around my neck and headed home what a waste of time.

The next morning I woke up and plugged my camera in the TV I wanted to watch and delete some parts, it came to the area where I was walking up the steps to the tower I was very excited because I wanted to see if I was just hearing things, the moment came and bang the camera went all fuzzy I fast forwarded and the image came back when I reached the bottom of the stairs. I was not imagining things it was her spirit controlling my camera, now I will always believe and remember Arundel is the scariest place in the world.

EVIL IN THE BASEMENT

I have always believed in ghosts but never thought that my house was haunted. But one night, I had a vivid dream that took place in my house. I dreamt I was another person running from something. The furniture in my dream was different and looked older than the furniture that was in my house at the time. I woke up and for some reason, I was really terrified. Shortly after, I would hear things like footsteps, doors opening/closing, and occasionally, heavy breathing at night. It always took place around two in the morning. Eventually, I started going to bed earlier and would be asleep at that time so I would not hear it. But on the occasional nights where I would be awake, I would hear those noises. Once my mom's boyfriend moved in however, all strange noises stopped. I volunteered to let him have my room, so that meant that I had to sleep in the basement. I moved all of my things down there. Once he moved out, I was comfortable down there and decided to stay.

Shortly after he left though, I started hearing those noises again. This time they were louder and distinctly closer to me than they were when I slept upstairs. Once, I'd even heard what sounded like someone stomping on the stairs going down into my room, but when I look, nothing is there. For a while it was only noises, but eventually it started to turn a bit more frightening. There are two rooms to my basement, one is the room I sleep in and the other is a storage room, sometimes the door to the storage room would be unlocked and open. At first I thought it was just my mom or sister going to get something, but the few times I've asked them about it and they say that they didn't go in. Also, there have been times when my new personal heater would not shut off... Until I would get up and turn on the lights. Once when I was investigating a noise that sounded like heavy breathing from my bed, I saw someone in the corner. It was a shadowy silhouette of a tall man. At first I thought it was in intruder, so I turned to get a weapon and when I looked up, he was gone. It was a little past two. My room is not big, and there is nowhere to go except for up the stairs or into the storage room. I was only turned away for two seconds at the most. I did not hear anyone run up the stairs, nor did not hear the storage door open (it is very noisy, takes a lot of force to open, and was across the room from the shadow.)

Another time, I had a friend spend the night. (I did not tell him about the noises or what I had seen.) I fell asleep before he did. The next morning, he told me that around two he thought he heard someone whistling. He looked to see if it was me, but it wasn't. He said that he looked up and saw a dark, tall, silhouette standing in the corner. He said that he tried to wake me up but I wouldn't move. When he looked back, the shadow was gone. One night, I came home from my neighbor's around two in the morning. I was not tired because I'd taken a long nap that day. Walking up to the house I felt like something was not right. Just to be sure, I looked around and everything was normal. I was lying in my bed and I heard footsteps coming toward my room. It sounded like it stopped right at the top of the stairs. I figured it was just my mom making sure I was home and I rolled over and attempted to go to sleep. Then, I heard heavy footsteps coming down my stairs. It turned over to look, but nothing was there. I got spooked, but after a while nothing happened so I tired to go to bed. After a few minutes, I heard something walking toward me, it stepped on a few pieces of paper. I looked over, and the paper was moving like someone had stepped on it and then stepped off only nobody was there. I had my heater on, but at that moment, it got very cold, and all of sudden I was very sleepy. I lied down in my bed, and right when I was about to go to sleep, I felt something pressing on my throat. At that moment, I got up. But I would want to go back asleep. The same thing would happen each time I was just about to go to sleep, but each time it would get more and more intense.
When it started getting too intense, my body involuntarily started flailing around, like it was struggling. As my body was struggling, it felt like something was trying to hold me down. Each time it would stop, I would start to get sleepy and fall back onto my bed, but my body would start moving around like it was not only fighting the sleep, but fighting what was holding me down. At first, I had no control over my body. It felt more like I was on a roller coaster and my body was the machine. It felt like I was just going along with it. When I thought of that, I tried to scream, but my screams came out muffled. I tried to get up and run away, but I would get pushed back down. I tried to grab my phone, but my phone got thrown across the room by whatever force was keeping me from getting help. At one point, the force got very powerful out of nowhere. I remember seeing my arm in front of me while I was sitting up, and that was the last thing I saw. I was moving, I felt my head moving, I felt my body moving, but the only thing I could see was that moment where my hand was in front of me while I was sitting up. The next thing I saw was my ceiling. After a few moments I realized that I was lying half off the bed. I felt myself convulsing and I could not move. The next thing I remember was waking up a few hours later and going to work. I was back in my bed the way I usually sleep, and I could remember what had happened. Just to make sure it wasn't a dream, I looked next to me for my phone (where I always keep it no matter what), but it was across the room. I don't know what happened. Ever since, I've slept in my house only three times. I will only go into the basement if I really need to, or if somebody is with me. When I told this story to a friend, he got scared and said that he thinks I got possessed. Everyone else thought I was crazy.

OLD HOUSE ENTITY

When I was young, we still lived in a house on the outskirts of Melbourne in quite a large neighborhood. The things that happened in that house are memories that will remain with me throughout my lifetime. While my mother was downstairs, she was getting some laundry out of the dryer. As she went to pull the basket over to get the laundry, it was on the other side of the room,This happened continually, until she became to frightned and decided to just forget about the laundry. As she walked up the stairs, there are double doors made out of wood.As she happened to walk past them, they began to rattle and shake for no apparent reason. Naturally my mother froze, and as she stood, the shaking of the doors grew to a pulling. All I knew was she came upstairs petrified and crying. She still tells the frightening tale, and every time she does I think of the evil within that eerie house. But that was not the only thing that had happened.Soon enough, my mom gathered all the facts to try and see just what could have been wrong with this house.Sure enough and after some research, she found out that the man who had lived there before us had murdered his wife and put her under our front porch. Those wooden doors that were shaking were from the cellar, which leads down under the porch. I guess the wife still wanted to be, heard and was trying to get my mothers attention. Of course I'd had my share of scares there, too. I would look out from the shower curtain, and see a short male standing in front of the sink. Then he'd turn to look at me and vanish. I wouldn't get that scared, but now that I think about it...it's pretty terrifying.

THE NIGHT SHIFT

Well I know that there are spirits out there somewhere. Living in my area, you hear many stories and legends. I never really saw a ghost but could feel things. This happened to me when I was 23 years old. I was to work for the phone company which I used to work for the military. Which naturally was located on a base. I worked in Hickam Air Force base and I used to work all hours. This particular time. I was working the "graveyard shift" which was from 10:00 pm to 6:00am. It was midnight and I needed to use the restroom. When you first leave the office. You turn to your left, there is a mirror in the hallway.I was always afraid to look in that mirror because I was always afraid of seeing something that I really did not want to see. While on my way to the restroom. I started feeling this cold chill and the hairs on the back of my neck all stood up. I thought that it was just natural that my mind was playing tricks on me. So I proceeded to use the restroom. When after I was done, I went to flush the toilet and all of a sudden the stall next to me also flushed. I freaked. I knew no one was in the building except for me and the other operator. We were not allowed to leave the switchboard unmanned. So I ran, and when I got back to that same particular spot I began feeling the chills. I did not tell the person working with me because I did not want anyone to think I was crazy.I really hated working those hours. For some reason in certain parts of the building you would have the impression that someone was watching you. Which was mainly in the area with the mirror. One day the subject came up about walking down that same hallway and having the eerie feeling that someone is watching. I found out that that building which is a hanger was used in World War II to keep all the dead military personnel.I used to hate working that graveyard shift.
